In this workshop we will discuss best practices in creating visually compelling and memorable content using some of the latest tools and apps the industry has to offer.

 

 carolyn-roy-ksla    Carolyn Roy – New Media Content Director at KSLA. “Reaching Out With Social Media.”    This session will examine how we use digital and social media in our news gathering process, as well as to engage and interact with our viewers and with our community.  Of interest will be a discussion of how digital and social media has changed the way we process news dramatically – from how it’s gathered in the field to how the “digital first” revolution has changed newsroom workflows.

Think you’re not creative? Having trouble breaking through a creative wall? No problem! During this session, you’ll learn creativity-enhancing tools that will tap into your own creative process. You’ll be generating new and innovative ideas before you know it!

Jake Wyatt’s passion is contagious and we’re certain you’ll know it from the moment you meet him. As a creative director, Jake always challenges the team to try a new technique or look at the creative process in a new way. He’s our resident champion of 2D animation and comics – so much though that he even creates his own comic, Necropolis, in his spare time. Before landing on the moon, Jake received a Hugo award for his work on Ms. Marvel Volume 1: No Normal. In addition, he’s contributed work to projects for Boom, Cartoon Network, DC and Nickelodeon.

Sara Hebert is the Marketing Director for Moonbot Studios.  Sara will join Jake in remarks for our Keynote presentation.  We will provide more information on Sara as soon as we can.

Jazmin J. Jernigan, MBA is a creative professional, small business advocate, and the owner of
Aesthetic Innovations, LLC. Ms. Jernigan founded the creative design and consulting
firm, also known as A.I. Studios, in 2008. Since then, her business has steadily delivered
smart solutions to a diverse target market by providing graphic design, website design,
photography, commercial printing and business development services. In fact, the
Shreveport-Bossier African-American Chamber of Commerce honored Aesthetic
Innovations as the 2015 Small Business of the Year.
Ms. Jernigan uses her entrepreneurial talent and practiced creative skill as a commercial artist as a means to give back to her community and promote the interests of other local small businesses in her hometown of Shreveport, LA.

Casey Habich is the Digital Media Instructor at the Caddo Career & Technology Center and a photographer with 10+ years of experience in television and print media. As an Adobe Certified Educator and Education Trainer Habich works with a variety of groups and individuals teaching the most current trends in digital content creation.

Carolyn Roy the director of the KSLA News 12 website.   She views social media not just as a medium for disseminating news, but for meeting news consumers where they are with the news that matters to them. Carolyn has worked with LSUS seniors for several semesters, guiding them through interships and helping them develop the skills needed to manage a professional social media content.

Allen Garcie is a Shreveport-based educator, trainer, graphic designer, and all-around creative thinker with over 20 years of combined professional and teaching experience in the field of design and other forms of digital media. He is currently an Assistant Professor within the Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) Digital Arts Program. He is also the Education Chair and a past president of the American Advertising Federation of Shreveport-Bossier.  In his career, he has received national recognition and several national awards, as well as multiple ADDY advertising awards, for his designs. He also maintains multiple industry-level Adobe and other certifications.
